Life is beautiful... and funny at times!
So, this is my new adventure of the
month: my mom has got a computer!
Well... that may sound simple and
common place to some people. But if we take into consideration that she is less
than one month away from her 74th birthday, and that she had hardly seen one
computer in her entire life... then, one should be able to understand what kind
of adventure I am talking about... I mean... several hours of Skype interaction
trying to teach her: 1) how to turn off the computer and stay cool not to
suffer a heart attack. 2) How to find the MSN message I just typed to her,
in response to a message that she herself typed to me, but that
somehow she can no longer find on her computer screen. 3) What "device"
(de-veess) and "update" (oop-da- te) and many other computer-related terminology
means, without going crazy...
At any rate, it has been an
interesting adventure! Yet, the good thing about all of this is that, after my
frustration is gone... I feel immensely proud of my mom for daring to do
something as "strange and complex and perplexing" as buying a computer to
keep in touch with her daughter.
Life is beautiful
indeed!
