So, this is my new adventure of the month: my mom has got a computer!
 
Well... that may sound simple and common place to some people. But if we take into consideration that she is less than one month away from her 74th birthday, and that she had hardly seen one computer in her entire life... then, one should be able to understand what kind of adventure I am talking about... I mean... several hours of Skype interaction trying to teach her: 1) how to turn off the computer and stay cool not to suffer a heart attack. 2) How to find the MSN message I just typed to her, in response to a message that she herself typed to me, but that somehow she can no longer find on her computer screen. 3) What "device" (de-veess) and "update" (oop-da- te) and many other computer-related terminology means, without going crazy...
 
At any rate, it has been an interesting adventure! Yet, the good thing about all of this is that, after my frustration is gone... I feel immensely proud of my mom for daring to do something as "strange and complex and perplexing" as buying a computer to keep in touch with her daughter.
 
Life is beautiful indeed!

Here are more pictures of my birthday. Mark surprised me with such a beautiful cake! And sang "Happy Birthday" in English, "Parabens" in Portuguese, and "Feliz Cumpleanos" in Spanish. And the pink drink the waitress gave me to drink was a delicious juice :) After my friends assured her I would not drink the strong shot she had planned to offer me =) We had lots of fun!

I had changed my mind back and forth about whether or not I wanted to do anything to celebrate my birthday this year. Mark helped me decide by making the restaurant reservation. We ended up having about 26 friends join us for the "Partee" and it was a lot of fun! God has blessed us with wonderful friends!
